The preparation for this important social and political event is carried out in accordance with generally accepted democratic principles. Under the wise leadership of the distinguished President, an important issue of election commissions is to ensure the organized holding elections in accordance with the country's Constitution, the Electoral Code of Turkmenistan, international norms and rules, as well as democratic principles.
It should be especially noted that successful experience has been gained in organizing this important social and political event. A clear confirmation of this is the high international assessment of the elections held on March 25, 2018.
In accordance with Article 4 of the Electoral Code of Turkmenistan, holding elections on the last Sunday of March has become a peculiar tradition.
In accordance with Article 85 of the Electoral Code of Turkmenistan, in case of an early retirement of a deputy of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, a member of the Halk maslahaty, the Gengesh, new elections are held on the relevant constituency, which are appointed by the Mejlis of Turkmenistan in accordance with Article 4 of the Electoral Code of Turkmenistan.
As known, in accordance with Resolution No. 116-VI of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan of January 5, 2019, early elections, instead of retired deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, members of the Halk maslahaty and Gengesh, are scheduled for March 31, 2019. These elections are held in accordance with the Electoral Code of Turkmenistan.
The rules and grounds for early retirement and termination of their powers are explained and regulated by the relevant articles of the laws of Turkmenistan: “On the Mejlis of Turkmenistan”, “On Local Representative Government Bodies” and “On the Gengesh”.
Now, there are conducted preliminary preparatory works for holding early elections. For the preparation and organization of elections, there are drawn up action plans and sample documents.
According to the results of the elections, which took place on March 25, 2018, in the country was formed:
As a result, there were formed 7465 constituencies throughout the country.
Elections, which will be held on the last Sunday of March of this year, the slogan of which is “Turkmenistan - Home of Prosperity”, occupies an important place in the prosperity of democratic principles in the political life of the state.
