CENTRAL COMMISSION FOR HOLDING ELECTIONS AND REFERENDUMS IN TURKMENISTAN

As we know, the glorious 30th anniversary of the Independence of our sacred Motherland in the year of "Turkmenistan is the Motherland of peace and trust" coincides with the 140th anniversary of the founding of our beautiful capital Ashgabat. These glorious dates will also be widely celebrated on the basis of the documents signed by our esteemed President. Article 24 of the Constitution of Turkmenistan on the legal status of the capital of our country states: "The capital of Turkmenistan is Ashgabat".
Today, Ashgabat is not only famous for its glorious white marble coral city, but also for its regional reconciliation, friendship and international relations. It is worth noting with pride that the role and importance of the capital in the world community as a conciliatory and business center is strengthening every year.
The ancient traditions of the Turkmen people, inherited from our ancestors, are the basis of the positive foreign policy of our state, which looks to the long-term future of our state, looking at the long-term national traditions of peace, love, good neighborliness, humanity, trust and respect for interests. Because these principles of Turkmenistan stimulate the development of mutually beneficial attitudes towards all states in terms of the need to unite efforts for the sake of world peace. As an example, in Ashgabat, with the support of the United Nations in its time, the establishment of peace and harmony in Tajikistan, and also the holding of a number of important talks in the late 1990s to resolve conflict in Afghanistan proves that our Fatherland has become a unique reconciliation center for peaceful life in neighboring countries as well. As a result of the successful implementation of such policy, our country has become a reliable partner of the United Nations in maintaining political stability in the region, in developing good neighborly relations, friendship and brotherhood. That is why the establishment of the United Nations regional center for preventive diplomacy for Central Asia, headquartered in Ashgabat in 2007, was one of the important milestones in this regard.
It is a historic event that the permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan, which is a pillar of independence and plays an important role in the successful implementation of our country's prudent and effective international policy, is strengthened by the United Nations General Assembly Resolution.
With the initiative of our Hero Arkadag and with the close support of the international community, high-level international educational conferences, international forums, high-level meetings are gaining prestige of our capital in the region and in the world.
Bilateral and multilateral meetings with the participation of the Heads of state and government, heads of major international organizations in a conducive political environment for the parties in the conditions of observance of the hospitality traditions of our people in Ashgabat, the pearly city of Asia, are contributes to a positive solution to a wide range that is, issues of energy, water, transport, ecology, the environment, food security, and more on a mutually beneficial basis.
Nowadays, Ashgabat has become the center of world and international conferences and forums, exhibitions and competitions. Foreign guests who come to attend the festivities express their admiration for the architectural features of Ashgabat. Many of the buildings under construction in our White city are designed to host international conferences and forums.
Ashgabat is becoming more and more beautiful, encompassing large and modern complexes of various significance, providing the residents of the capital with high comfort in accordance with modern requirements. Our white city is also a very unique place for a cultural relaxing.
It has become a great tradition in Ashgabat to hold creative events such as the Days of Culture of different countries of the world. These activities create favorable opportunities for the interaction of cultures and peoples. This is a clear evidence of the wide-ranging friendly and fraternal relations with the countries of the world in our beautiful capital, which is the pearl of Asia.
Independent, Permanently Neutral Turkmenistan The capital of our Motherland is not only known in the world as a coordinating center, but also as a center of international sports competitions. As an example, the V Asian Indoor and martial Arts Games in 2017 in Ashgabat, the 2018 world weightlifting championships and other international sports events can be on display.
As is known, in the year of celebrating the glorious 30th anniversary of our sacred independence, the 140th anniversary of the founding of Ashgabat in the year of "Turkmenistan - the Motherland of peace and trust, which will be written with golden letters on the pages of history, two international sports competitions are planned to be held in the capital, which will raise the sports prestige of our country in the world to new heights. They are the Davis Cup International tennis championships in the Asia and Oceania team, and as well as the world cycling championships.
As the President noted : "Sports and sports diplomacy, which are the ambassadors of peace and prosperity, have a special place in the domestic and foreign policy of our neutral state to strengthen friendly and fraternal relations among the peoples of the world."
