CENTRAL COMMISSION FOR HOLDING ELECTIONS AND REFERENDUMS IN TURKMENISTAN
Under the wise leadership of our esteemed President at the year of "The era of the people with Arkadag" of the new Powerful period of new era of the Sovereign state every day of our dear land is filled with joyous celebrations. As now it is the custom, every year on October 1st International Elderly People’s Day is celebrated in unity, spirit and solemnity, and festive gifts are given to them.
If we will look at historical dates, on December 14, 1990, the United Nations General Assembly designated October 1st as the International Elderly People’s Day. For 31 years now, this holiday has been celebrated uniquely in different parts of the world.
In our internationally respected democratic state, this solemn day took a rightful place among the significant dates listed in the first part of article 81 of the Labor Code of Turkmenistan, which came into force on July 1st, 2009. So, the International Elderly People’s Day was first celebrated in our wonderful country on October 1st, 2009.
The International Elderly People’s Day is celebrated as a celebration of honoring our elderly generations who have accumulated rich life experience in their homes, recognizing their services to the Motherland, their efforts in strengthening the unity of our society and the stability of the state.
As we all know, large – scale programs are implemented in our country under the wise leadership of our esteemed President, who leads our people to a happy future. Our elders who are role models for the younger generation with their wise counsels, valuable advices big concerned about. At the state level great attention is paid to continuously improvement the living conditions and social protection of our elders, dear grandmothers, who honoured by nation, sweet – tongued, and whose life became a school, advices became a culture.
Following our millennia-old principles as, "The elder - the pillar of the house", "The home with elder – the home with treasure", and at the beginning of the important works, are disçussed with our sweet – tongued, aksakgal elders.
It is a noble principle of the turkmen people to rely on elders at every step of life in the country, to ask them for advice in every matter. Today, we deep respect our elder generations who are the adornment of our homes, holidays and society as an inexhaustible source of wisdom and insight.
Our elder generations are entrusted with the tradition of giving blessings to the planting of white cotton and wheat, the harvesting of a bountiful harvest, and the opening of new buildings. The title of "Hormatly il ýaşulusy" of Turkmenistan is solemnly given to the elder people who have done a great job in strengthening the Independence of the country, developing national traditions, strengthening our unity and integrity, educating the younger generation and setting a good example in life. At that time, they are dressed in a new white silkme telpek, a red don and a waist belt, which reflects the national spirit of this event.
As described in the popular and beloved song of nation " Ýaşlaryň arasynda garrylar gerek ", our elders, whose faces are bright and angelic, are a school of unity, heroism, bravery, patriotism, honesty, humanism, decency, and a continuation of the principle of our nation, turkmen statehood.
We sincerely congratulate our esteemed President, our Hero Arkadag and our dear compatriots on the International Elderly People’s Day!
May the life of our Hero Arkadag and our esteemed President who leads the united, hardworking people of Turkmenistan to the heights of development in a peaceful and democratic way will be long, healthy and dignity be exalted! Let the advantageous and productive works for the benefit of country and nation will always prosperous!
