CENTRAL COMMISSION FOR HOLDING ELECTIONS AND REFERENDUMS IN TURKMENISTAN
During in the Era of Revival of the new epoch of the powerful state, under the wise leadership of our esteemed President Arkadagly Hero Serdar significant dates and holidays in our Motherland are celebrated with great organization, joy and cheerfully. Among these holidays, the New Year celebration stands out for its unique expressiveness, embodying pure, kind thoughts and dreams.
The New Year holiday gives us all endless joy and surrounds us with unique traditions and jubilation. The significance of this holiday – is enhanced by the fact that everyone, young and old wishes each other peace, prosperity, unity and kindness, also exchanges holiday gifts. The uniqueness of this holiday – is characterized by the popular belief, “How you celebrate the New Year is how you will spend it”. The joy and happiness on the faces of our inspired people, our cheerful children and our happy youth, their enthusiastic songs and dances celebrating their prosperous lives, speak of the well-being of our country and about the joy and delight of all those celebrating the New Year.
Every family celebrates the New Year with a bang. This holiday – is a family holiday. It signifies family unity and prosperity of our country. New Year – is a unique and original holiday. Its roots go back to Ancient Rome. The Roman ruler Julius Caesar established January 1st as the beginning of the new year in 46 BC. This month was named after the ancient Roman god Janus. This god was supposedly depicted as two-faced with one side facing forward and other facing backward. The Russian Tsar Peter I established the New Year celebration on the night between December 31st to January 1st and this date marked the end of one era and the beginning of a new one.
A dignified farewell to the old year, joyful and spirited welcome to the new year include many folk traditions. This includes summing up and analyzing the year’s accomplishments at the national level within each family and by each individual. On New Year’s Eve, every family sets a lavish table. The New Year – is greeted with sparkling Christmas tree decorations, decorated trees lining the roads in villages and towns, houses decorated with garlands and white snowflakes. Such a spectacle invigorates all of humanity, a unique sense of delight, joy and inspiration is born in people’s hearts.
Under the wise leadership of Arkadagly Hero Serdar the Turkmen people, rapidly moving forward, bid farewell to 2025 – International Year of Peace and Trust, rich in holidays, significant dates and historical events and with great enthusiasm welcome 2026, the seventh of twelve years according to the Eastern calendar, the Year of the Horse, which will elevate our country to new heights of development. According to a popular belief that has existed since ancient times, onset of each new year is believed to resemble the character, lifestyle and behavior of the animal after which it is named.
According to a noble tradition, for a number of years now, each New Year in our country has been given an original motto.
With the unified support of the people, 2026 was also declared the year of “Independent Neutral Turkmenistan – is the homeland of purposeful winged horses”.
Thanks to the efforts of our esteemed President tremendous amount of work has been accomplished in our country over the past year. Our Neutral country special importance is attached to the development of science, application of innovative technologies in production and development of a digital system. The year 2025 has become one of those years that will leave its mark on history. The 30th anniversary of our beloved country’s neutral status was celebrated with great enthusiasm and the participation of guests from all over the world.
In honor of the 30th anniversary of permanent Neutrality, citizens who have worked conscientiously for many years in various sectors of the national economy were awarded the jubilee medal “Türkmenistanyň Bitaraplygynyň 30 ýyllygyna” and commemorative plaques, in accordance with the Decree of our esteemed President. Among those honored with the President’s award were also staff of the Central commission for holding elections and referendums in Turkmenistan.
Certainly, effective progress was achieved in the electoral system in 2025: the Law of Turkmenistan “On the Unified State Register of Voters” was adopted and number of measures were taken to improve this system to a modern level.
In 2026, we will solemnly celebrate the remarkable 35th anniversary of our country’s Independence. In his speeches, our esteemed President emphasizes that inspiring predictions await us in the future.
May the New Year be a year of peace, unity, prosperity, happiness, great achievements and well-being! May harmony reign in every family this New Year! May the New Year bring our country and our people endless happiness and joy!
May the efforts of Hero Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero Serdar in the interests of the people and the Motherland bear fruit in 2026!
