CENTRAL COMMISSION FOR HOLDING ELECTIONS AND REFERENDUMS IN TURKMENISTAN

On January 26, 2019, there were held a regular meeting of the Central Commission for holding elections and referendums in Turkmenistan, during which were discussed issues related with preparations for the upcoming March 31 elections, instead of early retired deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan over individual constituencies, as well as members of velayat, etrap, city Halk maslahaty and Gengeshes.

In the meeting there were members of the Central Election Commission, chairmen of election commissions of the velayats and the city of Ashgabat, staff of the Central Election Commission, responsible representatives for national observers of central bodies of political parties and public associations, members of working groups under the Central Election Commission, representatives of the mass media. In accordance with the agenda of the meeting, there were addressed the following issues:

was heard the information of the chairmen of the election commissions of the velayats and the city of Ashgabat on the progress of the preparatory work for the elections, which will be held on March 31, 2019;

were approved action plans for the preparation and organization of elections;

was announced that the nomination of candidates for the elections will be from January 30 to February 28, and the period from February 9 to March 5 will pass the period of registration of candidates;

was reviewed and approved the issue of election financing.

Also continues preparatory works on the elections, which will be held on the last Sunday of March.

The meeting participants assured, that the elections in the year “Turkmenistan - Home of Prosperity” will be held in accordance with national principles, international norms and in democratic conditions, and wished the wise President of Turkmenistan, who provided all the opportunities for this, strong health and success in all endeavors.
