CENTRAL COMMISSION FOR HOLDING ELECTIONS AND REFERENDUMS IN TURKMENISTAN

On May 16, 2025, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov paid a working visit to the friendly Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation. At the invitation of Rustam Minnikhanov, our Hero Arkadag took part as a honorary guest in the XVI International Economic Forum “Russia – the Islamic World: KazanForum 2025” held in Kazan.

The constant development of relations with neighboring countries and close partners is one of the priorities of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy. In this regard, the development of effective cooperation with large regions of the Russian Federation is an integral part of the traditional friendly Turkmen-Russian dialogue. This is evidenced by the long-term profitable relations with the fraternal Republic of Tatarstan.

The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was warmly welcomed by the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation Rustam Minnikhanov and other officials at the “Gabdulla Tukai” International Airport in Kazan.

Then the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan visited the “Kazan EXPO” International Exhibition Center, where the XVI International Economic Forum “Russia – the Islamic World: KazanForum 2025” is taking place and participated in the forum’s plenary session on “Digitalization: a new reality and opportunities for expanding cooperation”.

It is worth noting that this large-scale forum, which has been held since 2009, has established itself as an open platform for discussing topical issues of mutually beneficial cooperation and the implementation of joint projects between the subjects of the Russian Federation and the member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

In his heartfelt speech at the forum, our Hero Arkadag said: “I am convinced that today the Islamic world has every opportunity to act as one of the engines of global economic development. Our countries have excellent indicators in such aspects as demography, natural resources and geographical location. The technological level is steadily increasing, financial and organizational capabilities are growing, scientific and educational base is being strengthened. All these are good prerequisites for initiating large breakthrough projects in various fields, increasing the role and place of the countries of the Islamic world in the global economic and investment space” he said. In conclusion, our Hero Arkadag confirmed that Turkmenistan, as a part of the Islamic world is deeply committed to the relations of brotherhood, solidarity and respect with all its peoples and is ready to develop and strengthen these relations, contributing to the peace, prosperity and progress of our countries.

Then our Hero Arkadag met with the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Kazan Kremlin.

During the meeting, the current state and prospects of Turkmen-Tatar cooperation were discussed. As it was emphasized, fraternal relations between our peoples are based on the similarity of traditions and languages, common cultures, mutual respect and equality. In this regard, regular high-level meetings are an important prerequisite for effective bilateral cooperation. It was also noted with satisfaction that Turkmenistan and Tatarstan are effectively cooperating in the trade-economic sphere, including in the oil and gas industry, shipbuilding, aviation, supplies of motor vehicles and cargo equipment. Taking this opportunity, R. Minnikhanov expressed warm greetings and best wishes to our esteemed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to the delegation of our country, noting that he was very pleased to meet with the leader of Tatarstan in Kazan and conveyed to him warm greetings from the esteemed President.

Then, on behalf of the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan, a solemn dinner was given in honor of the National Leader of the Turkmen people. A conversation took place here between our Hero Arkadag and the Head of Tatarstan, as well as the State Adviser of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev. During the meeting, the high level of Turkmen-Tatar relations was noted with satisfaction.

Our Hero Arkadag and the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan also visited one of the most famous theaters in Kazan – the Tatar State Academic Theater named after Galiasgar Kamal.

Also, as part of the XVI International Economic Forum “Russia – the Islamic World: KazanForum 2025” in the International Exhibition Center “Kazan EXPO” hosted the international exhibition “Russia Halal EXPO 2025”. The exhibition, which covers an area of 30,000 square meters, houses pavilions of government and commercial organizations representing the subjects and regions of the Russian Federation and foreign countries, including the national pavilion of Turkmenistan.

Thus, the working visit of the Head of State to a friendly country – the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation – will give new impulse to the further development of Turkmen-Russian relations, including mutually beneficial ties with the Republic of Tatarstan.
