On December 22, 2025, a meeting was held at the office of the Central Commission for Elections and Referendums in Turkmenistan with representatives of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Office in Turkmenistan.
The meeting was attended by Gulmyrat Muradov, Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Turkmenistan, and Tomica Paovic, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Turkmenistan. Opening the meeting, G. Muradov expressed his gratitude to the UNDP representatives for their participation.
G. Muradov noted with satisfaction that, in accordance with the action plan stipulated in the Project Document "Assistance in Strengthening the Capacity of the Central Commission for Elections and Referendums in Turkmenistan" for 2024–2025—signed between the Central Election Commission of Turkmenistan and the UNDP Country Office—relevant training seminars featuring international experts were organized. Additionally, representatives of the Central Election Commission and a representative of the Ministry of Communications of Turkmenistan conducted a study visit to Yerevan, Republic of Armenia. Significant work has also been completed to upgrade the Central Election Commission’s official website (saylav.gov.tm). He further highlighted that the training seminars conducted by international experts included participants from election commissions, political parties, public organizations, and regional (velayat) representatives.
This serves as clear evidence that such training seminars will play a constructive role in the future conduct of elections in our country in accordance with international standards and based on democratic principles.
Subsequently, T. Paovic thanked the Chairman of the Central Election Commission for his remarks regarding the results of the joint work carried out by the UNDP and the Central Election Commission of Turkmenistan under the 2024–2025 Project Document. He emphasized that, from this perspective, it is vital to continue this cooperation within the electoral system.
Following this, L. Artykova, the Program Manager supporting the implementation of the Project Document, reported on the work completed in accordance with the project plan. At the conclusion of the meeting, G. Muradov once again expressed his gratitude to T. Paovic and the guests for their participation, wished them success in their endeavors, and brought the meeting to a close.
