Preparatory work is underway for the elections of the members of the Halk Maslahaty of Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan which is scheduled for the last Sunday of March 2021 the year of – «Turkmenistan - Homeland of Peace and Trust». Under the Electoral Code of Turkmenistan, the nomination process which has started on February 6 is in full swing these days. It is now within the framework of this important political event, members of velayat, etrap, and town halk maslahaty are working on nominating rightful and worthy candidates in their meetings.
Nomination to candidacy for membership in the Halk Maslahaty can be through political parties, groups of citizens, and representatives of velayat, etrap, and town halk maslahaty.
An unlimited number of nominees for membership in the Halk Maslahaty of the Milli Gengesh are been actively under discussion. It is noteworthy that among the nominees, there are experienced professionals who are working in various sectors of our national economy.
Speakers of mejlis are getting closely acquainted with the nominee’s reputation among the population, their activism, and organizational skills.
Thus, the discussion of the unlimited number of candidates during the meetings means that these elections will be held transparently within the context of broad competition based on our democratic principles, the Constitution of Turkmenistan, and the Electoral Code of Turkmenistan.
To date, the total number of 75 candidates for membership in the Halk Maslahaty of Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan has been nominated by members of the velayat, etrap, and town halk maslahaty. Number of nominated candidates are: Ahal velayat 15, Balkan velayat 15, Dashoguz velayat 7, Lebap velayat 15, Mary velayat 12, Ashgabat city 11.
Nomination to candidacy will end on March 2, as for registration it will continue until March 7.
