CENTRAL COMMISSION FOR HOLDING ELECTIONS AND REFERENDUMS IN TURKMENISTAN
In accordance with the approved plan of election activities, within the framework of preparations for the elections of the members of Mejlis of Turkmenistan, velayat, etrap, city halk maslahats and Gengeshes which will be held on March 26, 2023, specialists of the Central election commission held training sessions with the members of the velayat, etrap, city and district election commissions. During the session there were explained the organization of the upcoming elections, more specifically, the electoral legislation, the system of electoral commissions operating in the elections, the powers of velayat, etrap, city, and district electoral commissions.
Also, in relation to the season of nomination of candidates which started on January 25 and registration of candidates which started on February 4, a comprehensive understanding was given about the procedure for nomination and registration of candidates for membership of Mejlis of Turkmenistan, velayat, etrap, city halk maslahats and Gengeshes and the types of election documents.
Emphasizing that the elections of deputies of Mejlis, members of velayat, etrap, city halk maslahats and Gengeshes are an important step in deepening democratic principles and a reliable foundation for successful implementation of positive reforms, the members of the election commissions assured that they will do all the best to conduct the election season at a high level.
The participants of the training sessions expressed their gratitude to our esteemed President, who created all the conditions and wide opportunities to conduct the elections in our country in accordance with our democratic principles.
