CENTRAL COMMISSION FOR HOLDING ELECTIONS AND REFERENDUMS IN TURKMENISTAN

On May 9, 2025, our esteemed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov paid a working visit to the friendly country of the Russian Federation. At the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, our esteemed President took part in the celebrations held in Moscow on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

The officials welcomed our esteemed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov at “Vnukovo-2” International Airport in Moscow. There, the Head of State was introduced with copies of special issues of the “Pravda” and “Sowet Turkmenistan” newspapers for 1945 and then our Hero Arkadagly Serdar was presented with historical issues of these newspapers.

Then, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin warmly welcomed the esteemed President in the Kremlin.

Our esteemed President, other distinguished guests, as well as heads of delegations from the CIS countries and other countries who arrived in Moscow to participate in the festive events arrived from the Kremlin to the central stand of Red Square.

After the chimes on the Spasskaya Tower of the Moscow Kremlin at 10:00 a.m the Victory Day Parade began on Red Square. President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin addressed the war veterans and all those gathered at the ceremony with a congratulatory speech. He sincerely congratulated everyone on the glorious 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. A minute of silence was declared in memory of those who died in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

It has been 80 years since the Great Victory, won in the most brutal and bloody war in world history. This war caused irreparable losses and led to the deaths of millions of people.

The Turkmen people also made a worthy contribution to the Great Victory. Our compatriots fought fearlessly at the fronts, demonstrating heroism and courage. The bravery of Turkmen soldiers – is a true example of love for the Motherland and devotion to duty. The names of our compatriots who did not return to their homeland from the war and returned with the Victory are listed in the books “Hatyra” and “Shohrat”.

...During the festive celebration on Red Square, representatives of the troops of the Russian Federation and other countries march past the stand. Among them – is the battalion of the Honor Guard of the Ministry of Defense of Turkmenistan. Today young Turkmen soldiers worthily continue the glorious traditions of their ancestors.

Victory Day occupies an important place in our national calendar. From the first days of that brutal war, our compatriots voluntarily went to the front and, together with fraternal peoples, fought shoulder to shoulder for peace on Earth and a happy life for generations.

We are immensely proud that 104 Turkmen soldiers have been awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union for their courage and 19 front-line soldiers have become full holders of the Order of Glory. Thousands of our compatriots have been awarded military orders and medals. Among them, the grandfather of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the great-grandfather of Esteemed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov – Berdimuhamed Annayev.

Berdimuhamed Annayev volunteered for the front, returned from the war seriously wounded and continued his teaching career. By the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 2, 1949, he was awarded the Order of the “Badge of Honor”. It is worth noting that in June 2018, in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation, Berdimuhamed Annayev was awarded the highest state award of the Russian Federation – the Medal “For Courage”. In honor of the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory, the battle flag of the 748th Rifle Regiment of the 206th Rifle Division was brought to Turkmenistan from Russia. It was under this flag that Berdimuhamed Annayev bravely fought.

Today, Berdimuhamed Annayev’s life path serves as an example of patriotism and commitment to high spiritual and moral values for the country’s youth.

Cultural and artistic figures of Turkmenistan also made a worthy contribution to the approach of Victory Day. They traveled to war zones several times as part of concert groups. Sometimes such concerts were held on the front line. Turkmen women have also made a great contribution to the national cause. They worked tirelessly in various sectors of the national economy instead of those who went to war. They donated about 7,400 kilograms of gold and silver jewelry to the Defense Fund.

...After the solemn procession, the heads of state who arrived in Moscow on the occasion of the significant anniversary, according to noble tradition, went to the Alexander Garden near the Kremlin Wall and laid flowers at the grave of the Unknown Soldier.

Then, the esteemed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov laid flowers at the Eternal Flame, honoring the memory of the heroes who fought against fascism on the battlefields of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 for the peaceful life and freedom of all mankind.

Victory Day – is a holy and bright holiday. We share this joy with our fraternal peoples. The memory of the heroic deeds, inspired by glory, will forever remain in our hearts, contributing to the strengthening of friendship and friendly interstate relations.
