CENTRAL COMMISSION FOR HOLDING ELECTIONS AND REFERENDUMS IN TURKMENISTAN
The season of registration of candidates for the elections of deputies of Mejlis of Turkmenistan, members of velayat, etrap, city halk maslahats and Gengeshes of Turkmenistan which will be held on March 26 of this year ended on February 28, 2023.
The registration of candidates was carried out by the relevant election commissions in accordance with democratic principles. Thus, in a total of 7222 constituencies across the country, including 125 for the elections of deputies of Mejlis, 240 for the elections of members of velayat, Ashgabat city halk maslahats, 960 for the elections of members of etrap, city with etrap rights halk maslhats and 5897 for the elections of members of Gengeshes the candidates will compete in elections. Each constituency will have two candidates, and in some cases even more. The registered candidates were handed over identity cards of the prescribed format in a ceremonial manner.
According to article 48 of Election code of Turkmenistan, and also in order to ensure the conditions of openness and transparency of the election season, information about registered candidates by electoral districts will be continuously disseminated to public through the mass media.
