CENTRAL COMMISSION FOR HOLDING ELECTIONS AND REFERENDUMS IN TURKMENISTAN
As you know, on March 26 of this year, will be held the elections for the deputies of Mejlis of Turkmenistan, the representative body that exercises legislative power in our country, for members of velayat, etrap, city halk maslahaty, which are local representative bodies of state power, as well as for members of gengeshes, which are local self-governing bodies. These days, as part of the preaching activities related to this important political event, the meetings of the registered candidates with the voters are going on on a large scale.
The candidates meet with the voters in their constituencies, using equal opportunities and rights given to them, and speak at the meetings with voters and in the mass media. This is a clear evidence that democratic principles are circulating.
According to the Election code of Turkmenistan, when the elections are held the freedom of preaching is ensured to political parties, public associations, citizens of Turkmenistan, candidates, candidates' trustees in accordance with the legislation of Turkmenistan. Because, the main goal of any election is campaigning for the nomination and election of worthy candidates. The preaching works starts from the day the candidate is registered in the respective election commission and ends one day before the election day.
