CENTRAL COMMISSION FOR HOLDING ELECTIONS AND REFERENDUMS IN TURKMENISTAN
In Turkmenistan preparations are underway for the election of deputies of the Mejlis, instead of those who left early in certain electoral districts, as well as elections of members of Khalk Maslakhaty (popular assembly), members of Gengeshes in connection with changes in the administrative and territorial structure of the velayats.
Candidates for deputies of the Mejlis in the capital election district No. 7 "Gunesh" and in Mary velayat in election district No.106 "Vekil" have nominated the Democratic Party and citizens' groups.
Candidates for members of Khalk Maslakhaty and Gengeshes in the electoral districts are nominated meetings of velayat, etrap and city organizations of the Democratic Party, the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the Agrarian Party, and initiative groups of citizens.
Several candidates apply for one post in all districts, which meets the principles of alternativeness. Participation of national observers in the electoral process will promote to the openness and objectivity. At the end of the nomination, candidates will be registered, after which meetings with voters will be held.
