CENTRAL COMMISSION FOR HOLDING ELECTIONS AND REFERENDUMS IN TURKMENISTAN

In accordance with the resolution of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan dated January 7, 2026, elections of members of the halk maslahaty of the newly formed etraps in Turkmenistan – the Altyn Asyr etrap of the Ahal velayat, the Garashsyzlyk and Gubadag etraps of the Dashoguz velayat, the Dovletli, Farap, Garabekevul etraps of the Lebap velayat, the Oguzhan etrap of the Mary velayat, as well as elections of early drop out of deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan in electoral districts №74 «Amyderýa», №79 «Darganata» of the Lebap velayat, №104 «Peşanaly» and №106 «Wekil» of the Mary velayat are scheduled for March 29, 2026, Sunday, elections of members of velayat, etrap, city halk maslahaty and gengeshes.

To ensure the organized preparation and hold of these elections, a meeting of the Central Commission for holding elections and referendums in Turkmenistan was held on January 14, 2026. The meeting was attended by members of the Central Election Commission and its staff, members of working commissions established under the Central Election Commission, representatives responsible for national observers from the central bodies of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan, the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, the Agrarian Party of Turkmenistan, the Organization of Trade Unions of Turkmenistan, the Women’s Union of Turkmenistan and the Youth Organization of Turkmenistan named after Makhtumkuli, as well as representatives of the mass media.

Chairman of the Central Commission for holding elections and referendums in Turkmenistan Gulmyrat Muradov opened the meeting and familiarized the participants with the agenda.

In accordance with the meeting agenda and Articles 4, 85 and 87 of the Electoral Code of Turkmenistan, a number of issues related to the organized preparation and hold on the March 29, 2026, elections of members of the halk maslahaty of the newly formed etraps in Turkmenistan, as well as the elections of early drop out of deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, members of velayat, etrap, city halk maslahaty and gengeshes. Specifically, an action plan for the preparation and organized conduct of the elections was approved.

It was also announced that the election campaign for the upcoming elections would begin on January 15, 2026.

The issue of determining the boundaries of the relevant districts and polling stations for the elections of members of the halk maslahaty of newly formed etraps in Turkmenistan, as well as the elections of early drop out of deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, members of velayat, etrap, city halk maslahaty and gengeshes, as well as an analysis of the composition of the current district and precinct election commissions was considered. It was also planned to hold training seminars for members of election commissions.

During the meeting of the Central Election Commissions were approved of the developed election guidelines.

In addition, speeches were heard from the chairmen of the election commissions of the velayats and city of Ashgabat on the tasks facing them to ensure the organized conduct of the election campaign.

During the meeting, it was noted that in the current new historical epoch, under the wise leadership of our esteemed President – Arkadagly Hero Serdar great importance is attached to the democratization of public life in our country and need to intensify activities aimed at widely disseminating information among the people about the content and goals of large-scale government programs, political and democratic reforms being implemented in our Motherland.

Members of the Central Commission for holding elections and referendums in Turkmenistan identified important tasks for holding election campaign at a high organizational level. They also assured that they will make necessary efforts to ensure democratic, transparent and alternative elections.

At the end of the meeting, the participants expressed their sincere gratitude and appreciation to Hero Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero Serdar, who have created all the conditions and provided ample opportunities for this socio-political event, which will take place in the new era of the Revival of the new epoch of the powerful state, in the year declared under the motto «Independent Neutral Turkmenistan – is the homeland of purposeful winged horses».

During the meeting of the Central Election Commission, a number of other organizational issues were considered, on which appropriate decisions were taken.
