CENTRAL COMMISSION FOR HOLDING ELECTIONS AND REFERENDUMS IN TURKMENISTAN
The first election of the members of the Halk Maslahaty of Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan to be held on the last Sunday of March 2021
The third session of the Halk Maslahaty was held via direct video communication on September 25, 2020, in Ashgabat under the chairmanship of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
Under the slogan «Turkmenistan - the Homeland of Neutrality», a historic forum was held this year based on the democratic initiatives of our esteemed President with the adoption of the Constitutional Law of Turkmenistan «On Amendments and Additions to the Constitution of Turkmenistan» was transferred to the bicameral parliamentary system.
This marks the beginning of a new phase in the development of parliamentarism and democratic reforms in Turkmenistan.
The reforms initiated by our President Arkadag have given a qualitative impetus to democratic principles, writes an important page in the glorious history of our country. Because, as our esteemed President emphasized, «Parliament, as a special branch of state power, is an indispensable tool for the establishing people's democracy in the political, economic and social life of the country».
By the decision of the Halk Maslahaty, the first election of members of the Halk Maslahaty of Milli Gengesh (Parliament) of Turkmenistan is scheduled to take place on the last Sunday in March 2021.
