CENTRAL COMMISSION FOR HOLDING ELECTIONS AND REFERENDUMS IN TURKMENISTAN
Under Article 50 (6) of the Electoral Code of Turkmenistan, registration of candidates for the elections of members of the Halk Maslahaty of Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan which is scheduled on March 28 of this year has ended on March 7. 17 candidates were nominated by the velayat, Ashgabat city halk maslahaty, 95 by the etrap and town halk maslahaty, and the total of 56 meetings on the nomination of candidates has proceeded in our country.
A total of 112 nominees were registered by Central Election Commission. 83 of the candidates – 74,11 percentile are males, and 29 of the candidates – 25,89 percentile are females. Biographies of candidates were published in newspapers «Türkmenistan» and «Нейтральный Туркменистан» for the public attention. Thus, on election day 112 candidates will contest for 48 mandate. This indicates that 2-3 candidates will compete for 1 place.
