CENTRAL COMMISSION FOR HOLDING ELECTIONS AND REFERENDUMS IN TURKMENISTAN

In the year "Turkmenistan is Motherland of peace and trust", in the days leading up to the glorious 30th anniversary of our sacred Independence the nation-wide, large-scale work carried out under the wise leadership of our esteemed President is flourishing in a special way for the prosperous period of our Sovereign state. Today, our country is moving forward with a deepening of democratic principles. Within the framework of democratic conditions, great attention is paid to ensuring the suffrage of every turkmen citizen in our country. 

Electoral groups operating in our country have an important role in the conduct of elections and in the legal guarantees of citizens' suffrage. 

With the expiration of the five-year term of the velayat and Ashgabat city election commissions the parties have been re-established. The reconstruction of the velayat and Ashgabat city electoral commissions was carried out in an organized manner in accordance with the Electoral code of Turkmenistan, approved by the Central election commission.

In accordance with article 18 of the Electoral code of Turkmenistan, the nomination of representatives of the velayat, Ashgabat city electoral commissions was carried out at meetings of political parties, public associations of velayat, Ashgabat city organizations, as well as at the meetings of civil society groups. 

More specifically: 

20 from the Democratic party of Turkmenistan;

4 from the party of Industrialists and entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan;

6 from the Agrarian party of Turkmenistan;

15 from the Trade Unions of Turkmenistan;

8 from the Youth organization of Turkmenistan named after Magtymguly;

5 from the Women's union of Turkmenistan;

8 from groups of Citizens.

Meetings were held in a transparent manner, on a democratic basis. Velayat and Ashgabat city election commissions held their first meetings, at that meeting they elected the chairman, the deputy chairman, and the secretary of the group. Thus, the composition of these election groups consisted of 11 members. The identity cards were handed over to the members of the new composition of the velayat and Ashgabat city election commissions. 

The new composition of the velayat and Ashgabat city election commissions will take an active part in the democratic elections will be held in our country over the next five years.
