CENTRAL COMMISSION FOR HOLDING ELECTIONS AND REFERENDUMS IN TURKMENISTAN

As you know, on November 11 of this year Chairman of Halk Maslahaty of Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States in Samarkand. 

By the way, our country also regularly participates in meetings of leaders of turkic-speaking countries. During them, new approaches to establishing long-term cooperation based on friendship and good neighborliness between fraternal nations are being developed. With these goals in mind, the Turkic council was established in 2009 and at the VIII summit of the cooperation council of Turkic - speaking states held in Istanbul last year its name was changed to the Organization of Turkic States. At that same summit a decision was made to give Turkmenistan observer status in this organization. 

Here it is, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Chairman of Halk Maslahaty of Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan spoke as an honored guest at the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States held in the city of Samarkand. 

Addressing the participants of the summit our Hero Arkadag noted that Turkmenistan's entry into the Organization of Turkic States as an observer last year initiated a new phase of cooperation with brotherly countries in various fields. Also, within the territory of TURKSOY he thanked all the member countries of the Organization of Turkic States for supporting Turkmenistan's proposal to declare 2024 as the "Year of Magtymguly Pyragy, the great thinker and poet" in the turkic world, and to declare the historical turkmen city of Anev as the "Cultural capital of the Turkic world" in 2024. He thanked all the member countries of the Organization of Turkic States. 

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov – the Chairman of Halk Maslahaty of Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan held a series of bilateral meetings with the heads of friendly countries during his stay in Samarkand. 

After the conclusion of the summit, the ceremony of awarding Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov - the Chairman of Halk Maslahaty of Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan with the highest order of the Turkic world was held in the conference room. As noted, this award is given to people who have continuously contributed to the development of cooperation between the member states, strengthening the solidarity between turkic-speaking peoples. This clearly shows that friendly and brotherly relations between nations are being strengthened, the cooperation in cultural and humanitarian fields is being developed.
