CENTRAL COMMISSION FOR HOLDING ELECTIONS AND REFERENDUMS IN TURKMENISTAN
Representatives of apparatus of the Commission for holding Elections and referendums in Turkmenistan participated in the referendums held on April 30, 2023 under the draft Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan as part of the international observer delegation from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member states as international observers from the state of Turkmenistan.
The main issue of the referendum was the question: "Do you accept the Constitutional Law of Uzbekistan "on the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan"?"
The Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan was adopted in 1992 and has been amended 15 times. The constitutional law "On the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan" adopted at the referendum held on April 30 of this year entered into force on 1st of May - the day of its announcement.
During the working visit, representatives of the Central election commission got acquainted with the work of the electoral system of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the legislation on referendums, the procedure for voting at polling stations during the referendums. The Central election commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan, 14 district election commissions and 10813 precinct election commissions carried out the preparation and conduction of the elections by fulfilling the duties of the referendum commissions.
Also, on April 29, 2023, representatives of the Turkmen side met with the secretary of the Central election commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan H.T. Mamatov., on April 30, 2023, they participated in the meeting held by the General secretary of the Commonwealth of Independent States S.N. Lebedev with the leaders of the delegations of the CIS participating countries.
