Representatives of the apparatus of the Commission for holding Elections and referendums in Turkmenistan participated in the extraordinary elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan which held on July 9, 2023 as part of the international observer delegation from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member states as international observers from the state of Turkmenistan.
During the working visit representatives of the Central election commission got acquainted with the work of the electoral system of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the legislation on elections and observed the voting process at the polling stations. Also, the representatives of the Central election commission participated in the first meeting of the advisory council of the leaders of the election organizations of the Commonwealth of Independent States, which were invited as guests of honor from the election organizations of the CIS member states.
The Central election commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan and 14 district election commissions were responsible for the preparation and conduction works of the elections.
10.840 polling stations (including 56 in foreign countries) were created to vote on the Presidential elections of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
According to the Central election commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan, nearly 800 international observers observed the elections.
On July 9, 2023, representatives of the Central election commission of Turkmenistan met with the chairman of the Central election commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan Z.M. Nizamhojayev. Also, after voting was completed on the same day, they participated in the council of heads of delegations of the CIS member states which was held under the leadership of the General secretary of the Commonwealth of Independent States S.N. Lebedev.
Thus, among the 4 candidates who competed in the Presidential elections of the Republic of Uzbekistan Mirziyoyev Shavkat Miromonovich was elected as the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan after receiving the votes of 87.05 percent of the participated voters.
