CENTRAL COMMISSION FOR HOLDING ELECTIONS AND REFERENDUMS IN TURKMENISTAN

On January 23, 2018, the regular meeting of the Central Commission for Holding Elections and Referendums in Turkmenistan was held. In accordance with the agenda of the meeting, decisions were taken and adopted on the following issues:

1. Opening of polling stations at foreign diplomatic missions (consular organizations) of Turkmenistan to conduct voting on the upcoming March 25, 2018 elections of deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan;

2. The information of the chairmen of the election commissions of the velayats and Ashgabat city on the progress of the preparatory work for the election of the deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, members of the velayat, etrap, town halk maslahaty and Gengeshes.

3. It was announced that the period for nominating candidates for the election of deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, members of the velayat, etrap, town halk maslahaty and Gengeshes will be held from January 24 to February 22, and during the period from February 3 to February 27 there will be a period of registration of candidates;

4. Changes were made to the composition of the Control and Revision Group under the Central Election Commission.

The meeting was attended by members of the Central Election Commission, chairmen of the election commissions of the velayats and Ashgabat city, staff of the Central Electoral Commission staff, responsible representatives for national observers of the central bodies of political parties and public associations, members of working groups attached to the Central Election Commission, and representatives of the media.
