CENTRAL COMMISSION FOR HOLDING ELECTIONS AND REFERENDUMS IN TURKMENISTAN
Preparations for the March 28, 2021 – to elect the members for Halk Maslahaty of Milli Gengesh is vigorously going forward. Based on the election law, the nomination process for candidates was launched on February 6. Candidates for Halk Maslahaty membership are represented by meeting of velayat, etrap, and city halk maslahaty. During the event, eligible representatives are to be elected to the legislature apparatus of our country. Under the procedure of nominations to candidacy, political parties and group of citizens can nominate candidates for Halk Maslahaty membership through their representatives who are members of the velayat, etrap, and city halk maslahaty.
The Halk Maslahaty of Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan consists of 56 members, 48 of them are elected from each veleyat and Ashgabat city by secret ballot based on indirect suffrage in the meeting of the velayat and Ashgabat city halk maslahaty, and the rest of 8 are appointed by the President of Turkmenistan.
