CENTRAL COMMISSION FOR HOLDING ELECTIONS AND REFERENDUMS IN TURKMENISTAN

On October 20, 2025, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov got acquainted with the progress of construction of the Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan – India gas pipeline via the “Arkadagyň Ak ýoly” Serhetabat – Herat gas pipeline in Afghanistan.

The foreign policy strategy of our country, laid down by the initiatives of our Hero Arkadag, successfully implemented under the wise leadership of our esteemed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. One of the main directions of this strategy – consistent strengthening of cooperation with countries of the region based on the principles of mutual benefit and good-neighborliness.

This is clearly evidenced by the launch of construction work on September 11, 2024 with the participation of our Hero Arkadag, including the construction of the Serhetabat – Herat gas pipeline, the Serhetabat – Herat fiber-optic communication line, a warehouse complex in the “dry port” of the “Turgundi” railway station, the Turgundi – Sanabar section of the first stage of the Turgundi – Herat railway line, as well as the commissioning of a 177-meter railway bridge on the Turkmen – Afghan border of the Serhetabat – Turgundi railway crossing and “Nur al-Jahad” power plant in the Herat region of Afghanistan as part of the implementation of the first stage of the Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan electric pipeline project.

Neutral Turkmenistan committed to the principles of peace and good neighborliness, consistently advocates for strengthening the prosperous life of Afghanistan. Turkmenistan advocates for the creation of a modern energy security system. A significant contribution to the development of this system is the Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan – India gas pipeline project, initiated by our Hero Arkadag and aimed at the benefit of the fraternal peoples of the region.

The National Leader proceeded along the “Arkadagyň Ak ýoly” road to the construction site of the Serhetabat – Herat gas pipeline in the Rabat – Sanghi district of Herat province, Afghanistan.

The National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Hero Arkadag was warmly welcomed by members of the official delegations of our country and Afghanistan. Then a solemn meeting was held here. Before the meeting, prayers were offered for the successful implementation of this important project aimed at benefiting the peoples of both friendly countries.

Then, at the meeting Hero Arkadag addressed the ceremony participants on the occasion of this significant event with a deeply meaningful historical speech: “During the Revival of a new epoch of a powerful state under the leadership of our Hero Arkadagly Serdar ambitious projects are being successfully implemented, contributing to the expansion of friendly and good-neighborly relations. It was noted that large-scale measures are being taken to increase production of Turkmen natural gas and ensure its reliable supply to foreign markets. All this is fully evidenced by the activities carried out by the “Turkmengaz” State concern in the “International Year of Peace and Trust” to build new gas pipelines of international significance” – stated Hero Arkadag.

The 214-kilometer Turkmen section of the Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan – India gas pipeline, which plays a significant role in the prosperity of neighboring and regional states, creation of an economically stable environment was successfully completed by our valiant gas workers.

Our Hero Arkadagly Serdar created a solid material and technical base for the implementation of this project and received more than 200 units of new, modern and powerful equipment.

Then our Hero Arkadag blessed next stage of an important stage of the Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan – India gas pipeline project – the 153-kilometer-long Serhetabat – Herat gas pipeline, laid along the “Arkadagyň Ak ýoly” pipeline to the Herat region of Afghanistan.

Then the floor was given to Deputy Prime Minister of Afghanistan for Economic Affairs Abdul Ghani Baradar. He began his remarks by welcoming our Hero Arkadag and the ceremony participants to Afghanistan and conveying the best wishes of the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Afghanistan Alhaj Molla Mohammad Hassan Akhund. It was noted that the TAPI project, which has geopolitical and geoeconomic significance is currently being successfully implemented. This project – is not only a gas pipeline, but also a symbol of cooperation, mutually beneficial economic relations and efforts aimed at common prosperity. He also noted that this project serves as a bridge for building trust between countries in the region and has great importance for ensuring energy security and stability.

Then our Hero Arkadag visited the place of welding and consecration site of the Serhetabat – Herat gas pipeline, which runs through the “Arkadagyň Ak ýoly” pipeline to Herat province. Here, the Mufti of Turkmenistan offered a prayer for the successful implementation of this large-scale gas project of regional and global significance.

Thus, the visit of the National Leader to Afghanistan demonstrated Turkmenistan’s commitment to developing good-neighborly relations in the region. Currently, Turkmen – Afghan relations are a shining example of mutually beneficial cooperation, which not only serving the interests of the friendly peoples of both countries, but also making a significant contribution to strengthening the region’s sustainable development.
