CENTRAL COMMISSION FOR HOLDING ELECTIONS AND REFERENDUMS IN TURKMENISTAN
During in the period of the Revival of the new epoch of a powerful state, each of the reforms carried out in our country benefits the people and lays a solid foundation for our bright future. In our Motherland thanks to the efforts of our Hero Arkadag and Hero Arkadagly Serdar the work of the electoral system, its legal foundations and democratic principles, like all other systems are steadily improving.
In accordance with the instructions of the Head of State to improve the work of the election system in accordance with the requirements of the time, the Law of Turkmenistan “On the Unified State Register of Voters” was adopted developed jointly by the Central Commission for Elections and Referendums in Turkmenistan and the Mejlis of Turkmenistan.
The law “On the Unified State Register of Voters” defines the legal and organizational basis for the creation and maintenance of the Unified State Register of citizens of Turkmenistan who have right to vote in elections and referendums.
The main objective of this Law – to create centralized digital information system designed to ensure state registration of voters, storage, processing and use of data in accordance with the Constitution of Turkmenistan and Electoral Code of Turkmenistan, as well as to ensure correctness and accuracy of this registration, observance of the electoral rights of citizens, reliability and security of the data of the state registry.
The adoption of this Law will increase the efficiency of work on the introduction of a digital system into electoral processes at the modern level in accordance with the “Concept for the Development of the Digital Economy in Turkmenistan for 2019-2025” and “State Program for the Development of the Digital Economy in Turkmenistan for 2021-2025”. It will also play a significant role in the further holding of elections in our country on a democratic basis.
This Law – consists of 34 articles, 6 chapters and shall enter into force on January 1, 2026.
